Japanese Gilt Wood Buddha Amida, a lacquer gilded figure of Amia Nyorai, wearing monastic robes and seated in a pose of meditation on the upper part of a separate gilt lotus pedestal, the hands to the front in mudra gesture of contemplation, the serene countenance with inlaid downcast crystal eyes. Lord of the Western Paradise or Pure Land, Amida promises salvation to all who sincerely believe in him.
